Casino - Official Trailor
De Niro & Pesci In The Desert
A superb thriller set around a gaming empire, Martin Scorsese's Casino stars Robert De Niro and James Woods as feuding friends and in the part of a lifetime, Sharon Stone as the woman they both want but can never really have. Overshadowing even these great actors is Joe Pesci, in a show stopping performance as the psychotic Nicky Santoro - he practically steals every scene he's in which is no mean feat given the company he was in. Added to this is some beautiful cinematography and a soundtrack picked to perfection. Beg, steal or borrow or copy ...top
The Cincinnati Kid - Official Trailor
The Final Hand
The Cincinnati Kid - In my mind, probably the very best movie made about poker players in what appears to be a difficult genre to pull off. A fabulous period piece that may look a little old fashioned by todays standards but still grips and turns in equal measure and was a tremendous vehicle for the upcoming Steve McQueen who was surrounded by a great cast including the legendary Edward G. Robinson as Lancey Howard, "the man" they all want to beat. Yes, the last hand as featured here, was stretching credibility a bit but then, this is the movies and that shouldn't put you off this exceptional film ...top
Hard Eight - Official Trailor
Opening Scene
Criminally, Hard Eight is still concined to the bargin bin, cult classic section when it deserves so much better. A classic tale of friendship, greed, deception and finally redemption with some beautifully understated acting from an ensemble cast, many of which you will recognise from bigger things even though this film was created on a shoestring. Might be a hard one to find, but well worth it ...top
Rounders - The Judges Game
The Tell
I must admit that i was left a little cold by Rounders but as i seem to be in the minority with this opinion, a couple of clips seemed appropriate. Matt Damon plays the young gun, hussling his way through life at the poker tables with the ever reliable Edward Norten, as his partner helping to find the big score. We get John Malkovitch doing his comedy Russian accent although there is admittedly, some tense and credible card action so perhaps you should take a chance and make up your own mind ...top
